Before joining our pilot project, please read through and accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

  • You understand that this is a pilot, we are trying to develop new technology that will help to deliver innovative energy solutions and increase renewable energy on the grid.

  • You are a participant in the pilot until one of the following happens:

    • 12 months has passed;

    • Village Energy ends the pilot program;

    • you withdraw from the pilot; or

    • you accepts an offer to transition your participation to one of our utility partners.

  • You are part of an early group of participants called the ‘Alpha Group’.

  • Your participation will start when you agree to these terms and conditions.

  • The trial is being run by us, Village Energy and your agreement to participate is with us.

  • You will need to allow us to install a smart plug called a Village Energy Control Optimiser (VECO) in your home. The VECO plug is just like a smart plug that plugs into one of your sockets.

  • You may also be offered a smart meter called a Village Energy Data Acquisition (VEDA) device and will need to give us (or our contractor) access to install the smart meter next to your existing electricity meter.

  • We will cover all the costs of devices and installation and provide you with support throughout the pilot.

  • Our VECO and VEDA device will need access to your home Wi-Fi and you must not remove them or interfere with them.

  • During the pilot, we will be connecting our VECO and VEDA device to appliances in your home and remotely turn these appliances on/off or up/down by sending a digital signal.

  • You will nominate the limits of any control, choose the appliance(s) to be included and we will notify you when we send a signal to control the appliance(s).

  • You can stop or remove controls at any time.

  • We want to demonstrate that our VECO and VEDA device can remotely control certain smart inverters (rooftop solar), air conditioners, pool pumps, electric hot water systems and batteries. These demonstrations will typically not exceed 30 minutes and our design priority is that it should not inconvenience you.

  • Our VECO and VEDA device will be our property and will be returned or removed at our cost at the conclusion of the pilot.

  • We’ll need access to your property at a time that is reasonable to you, to test, maintain, inspect, alter or remove these devices.

  • During the trial, we will give you access to our app prototype that is being customised for the Australia market.

  • Throughout the pilot, we will ask you to complete two 15-minute online surveys, we will also ask you to give feedback and complete user testing of our mobile app which we expect will be 1-2 times per month for about 5 minutes.

  • During the pilot we will collect and retain information and data about you and your electricity use to help us develop and improve our technology.

  • We may share this data and information with third parties who are working with us and have signed a confidentiality agreement.

  • You can choose to withdraw from the pilot whenever you want by giving us notice.

  • You can request a copy of your data and information from us if you would like it.

  • You will be able to contact us whenever you want and we’ll respond as quickly as we can.
